Short-Term Auto Insurance · Canada

Get your pink slip in minutes

Quote your VIN, prepay once, and get a valid pink slip (proof of insurance) accepted at every Canadian provincial registry. Short-term policies (1 to 3 months) are not subject to a driver background check. That means you're treated as a low-risk driver — and previous cancellations or lapses don't count against you.

$500 deductible

Lower out-of-pocket if you ever claim. Adds about $80 per term to your premium.

$1,000 deductible

Standard option. Lower premium — you pay the first $1,000 of any collision or comprehensive claim.

Worked example: Repair bill $4,200 → with $500 deductible you pay $500, insurer pays $3,700. With $1,000 deductible you pay $1,000, insurer pays $3,200.

Comprehensive coverage, explained

Comprehensive (sometimes called "other than collision") protects your vehicle from things that aren't a crash with another car. It's the half of Full coverage most people don't realize they need — until a hailstorm rolls through or a deer steps onto the highway.

Theft

Full vehicle theft or break-in damage. Pays Actual Cash Value of your car minus deductible.

Fire & explosion

Engine fires, garage fires, wildfire damage — covered down to the frame.

Hail, wind & storms

Dented hood, smashed windows, fallen tree branches. Major in AB, SK, and ON every summer.

Vandalism & riots

Keyed paint, slashed tires, broken mirrors — even if the person is never identified.

Animal strikes

Hitting a deer, moose, or any wildlife counts as comprehensive (not collision) — your premium isn't affected the same way.

Falling objects & glass

Rocks off a gravel truck, ice off an overpass, full windshield replacement — typically $0 deductible on glass.

What's NOT covered
  • • Mechanical breakdown or normal wear & tear
  • • Personal items stolen from inside the car (tenant/home policy covers these)
  • • Damage from racing or commercial use
Good to know
  • • Required by every lender if your car is financed or leased
  • • Comprehensive claims usually don't raise your premium the way at-fault collision claims do
  • • Glass-only claims are typically deductible-free
